  • 12noon-5pm Clowning, legal and blockading training at 128 Abel Smith Street. Please come along, learn and share your experience. Afternoon tea provided.
Tuesday, 17 October 2006
  • 8:30am - Te Papa forecourt – meet and greet delegates as they go into the conference.
  • 10:00am - Clowning dress up at 128 Abel Smith Street for demo
  • 12 noon – Pigeon Park (corner of Manners and Taranaki Streets) – March! Rally! Blockade! - March leaves at noon going to Te Papa to catch the delegates lunch break.
Wednesday, 18 October 2006
  • 8:00am – Museum Hotel entrance – delegate wake up call
  • 10am (approximately) – Rakon shareholder demos (location to be advised) – email stoprakon(at)gmail.com for more info.
  • 6:15pm – Duxton Hotel – Crash their party! Defence Industry Awards dinner and drinks. Meet at the grassy knoll across the street from the entrance to the hotel. Bring noisemakers!
Things to bring/remember:
Wear good sturdy clothing and shoes (we will be clowning up and padding up, please join us!), sunblock (we hope:))

Over the last four years, the Defence Industry Association has been hosting a conference at ‘Our Place’ Te Papa. At this conference New Zealand companies showcase wares developed for military use and multinational weapons manufacturers network about new technology and lucrative contracts. Representatives from corporations such as Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of a wide range of weapons and missile systems, are in attendance. In 2006, the conference will run for two days, 17-18 October.

New Zealand Defence Industry Assocation – the agency responsible for promoting general defence opportunities as well as specific projects. eg the “multi role vessel” and the “patrol boats” for the Royal New Zealand Navy. Most members see networking and the commercial benefits gained as the primary reason for membership. There is an active focus on export opportunities, in conjunction with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, New Zealand's Economic and Trade Development Agency. http://www.defencetech.co.nz/

New Zealand Defence Technology Agency – a department located within the New Zealand Defence Force which co-ordinates and communicates about the development of weapons and other military material with the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. http://www.nzdf.mil.nz/corporate/hqnzdf.htm#dta

Technical Cooperation Programme is the multinational agency that links NZ's weapons production with that of the US, UK, Australia and Canada. It consists of 11 'groups' including: Command, Control, Communications and Information Systems Group, the Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defence Group, the Electronic Warfare Systems Group, Human Resources and Performance Group, Joint Systems and Analysis Group and the Conventional Weapons Technology Group. http://www.dtic.mil/ttcp/
